Life in America continued
As I came here as dependent recently, I often felt I don’t have any identity here. I cannot go and work, I do not have any US ID card other than my Indian passport with H4 stamping.
I could not enroll my daughter in the library as I did not have any proper address proof with my name on it. Hence I had to depend on husband to get the Library membership done. So I was really eager to have some Identity proofs in my name. So as a first step we went to open my account in Bank of America today.
They asked for two id proofs of mine. The manager asked me if I had Driving license which I did not have. Luckily she accepted PAN card of India. Good that I carried it with me as an additional ID proof while traveling.
So with my Indian passport and PAN card, I could open an account here in America. I have to maintain a minimum balance of 250$ in that.
Yay.. I got the temporary debit card, online login and password, and my husband has put initial deposit in that, so now I am ready to go shopping…!!
